[Watch] Youth Lagoon – “17″ (Unofficial Video)

When I was seventeen, my mother said to me “Don’t stop imagining, the day you do is the day that you die.”

This unofficial video for Youth Lagoon‘s “17″, is a lovely tale of coming of age. The visuals beautifully complement Trevor Powers’ delicate vocals, with themes of young love and disappointment. The result is pretty damn good. The video was directed by Michelle Peña, a film student in Baltimore, MD. Watch below.

Youth Lagoon’s impressive debut album, The Year of Hibernation, will be out in stores September 27th via Fat Possum.

[Video] Youth Lagoon – “Montana”

22-year old Trevor Powers suffers from severe anxiety, or so his bio says. He explained that he writes songs because he needs to, because “there are too many things in my mind that haunt me”; he writes about memories, and the feelings they bring. He taps into all these raw emotions that haunt him, and translates them masterfully into song. ”Montana” is strikingly beautiful; subtle yet deeply powerful. The video does it justice, perfectly capturing the intimacy and the nostalgia of the song. Watch below.

The Year of Hibernation will be released September 27th via Fat Possum.
