October 18th cannot come fast enough. On that day, electronic master Anthony Gonzalez – aka M83 – will release his forthcoming album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, which he himself promised would be “very, very, very epic.” There isn’t a doubt in my mind that he will deliver. Thus far we’ve only heard the fantastic “Midnight City“, and now we get to have another listen: “Intro” is a beautiful and dreamy piece, made even more gorgeous by Zola Jesus’ powerful vocals. I mean, wow… What a way to open the album. Listen below.
Lykke Li’s iTunes Session is out today! The set features several songs from her latest album, Wounded Rhymes, as well as an excellent cover of “Velvet” by The Big Pink. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with “Youth Knows No Pain”, as a little preview of the live session which you can buy here. Listen below.
Dum Dum Girls have released a new track, “Bedroom Eyes”, from their forthcoming album, Only In Dreams, due out September 27th via SubPop. The track has a surfer-rock quality, not completely unlike Best Coast, but I didn’t like it as much as the first track we heard, “Coming Down” – then again, they raised the bar super high with that one. Listen below.
Noel Gallagher continues to prepare for the release of his project’s forthcoming album, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, set to be released October 17th. “If I Had a Gun” is our second preview – we previously heard “The Death Of You And Me”. Thus far I am really enjoying these tracks; not surprisingly, they both have a distinct Oasis quality about them, which isn’t a bad thing. Listen below.
Here is the brand new video for “Love The Way You Walk Away“, Blitzen Trapper’s second offering from their forthcoming album, American Goldwing – due out September 13th via SubPop. I’m anxiously waiting for the album to drop, but in the meantime I can’t seem to get enough of this track. Watch the video below.
Here is the latest video by Air Review – a Dallas quintet that has been creating all sorts of buzz lately, and deservedly so. “America’s Son” is a beautiful track, and the video that accompanies it is just as haunting. I love it when the visuals manage to perfectly capture the essence of the song, which in turn make you like the track even more; such is the case here. Their new EP, America’s Son, is out now and you should definitely get it. Watch and listen below.

Nathan Williams – otherwise known as Wavves – has released the first track from his upcoming EP, Life Sux, due out September 20th on Williams’ own imprint, Ghost Ramp. The track premiered on MTV’s new scripted series I Just Want My Pants Back, where Wavves will be serving as guest composer. Head on over to MTV for a free download of the track, or stream it below.
“What You Were” is The Drums’ second single off their forthcoming album, Portamento. The first preview was “Money”, which you can listen here. They’ve uploaded a video to their YouTube channel, which will be updated each Tuesday, until the release of the album on September 5th. Check it out below.
A few days ago James Blake and Bon Iver announced that they would collaborate on a track, which was pretty exciting news. And now it is finally here; “Fall Creek Boys Choir” is pretty much what you’d expect from the two, although I must admit it was slightly underwhelming. The song features Justin Vernon’s vocals while Blake takes care of the beat – but, is that a dog barking I hear somewhere on there? I don’t know, it just didn’t do it for me. Judge for yourselves.
